Eric Liu
Managing Director, Beijing
Based in Beijing, Eric Liu is a managing director at Locust Walk covering the Great China region. Eric has more than 15 years of venture, investment banking and pharmaceutical operating experience across China, US and Europe. He brings a track record of 50+ transactions of all varieties.
Prior to Locust Walk, Eric was managing director at Index Capital, an investment bank headquartered in Beijing. Eric was head of the biotech practice leading all biotech/pharma/CRO/CDMO transactionswith over 11 people and covered over 500 VC/PEs, LPs and strategic investors and key stakeholders. Eric began his pharmaceutical career at Bayer Healthcare in clinical development and regulatory affairs.
He is currently an industry mentor at National Key Laboratory of Biotherapy, Sichuan University as well as a mentor at Cornell University Centre for Life Science Ventures. Eric is also a venture partner at the Topwin Group, a conglomerate covering finance, hotel, real estate and healthcare in China.
Eric was a DPhil student at Oxford University doing colorectal cancer stem cell research and was undertaking the Cornell University-Tsinghua University Finance MBA programme.
Eric is also passionate about traditional Chinese medicine and he has been a member of the Board of Trustees at the Northern College of Acupuncture in the UK since 2020. Outside of work, Eric is a FC Barcelona fan and is working to develop craft beer with traditional Chinese Medicine inputs such as better digestive health and improved memory.
